Mandaluyong places orders for fresh fruits, vegetables

Alinsunod sa layunin ni Mandaluyong Mayor Menchie Abalos na makapagbigay ng masustansiyang food supplies sa kanyang nasasakupan bilang ayuda sa gitna ng nararanasang epidemya na dulot ng coronavirus, nakipag ugnayan ito sa sister cities ng lungsod upang doon umangkat ng mga sariwang gulay.

Agad namang tumugon ang Nueva Ecija, isa sa mga sister city ng Mandaluyong at agad nagdeliver ng mga sariwang gulay mula sa kanilang lugar.

Ayon kay Abalos, umaasa sila na madaragdagan pa ang maghahatid ng mga sariwang gulay mula sa iba pang sister cities nila. Dagdag pa nito na nakatutulong din naman sila sa ibang lungsod sa ganitong paraan, sapagkat natatangkilik ng Mandaluyong ang ani ng mga magsasaka kung saan nanggagaling ang mga sariwang gulay.

Ipinaliwanag din ni Abalos na hindi pare-pareho ang dami ng gulay na kanilang naipamamahagi dahil hindi rin naman pare –pareho ang bagsak at dating ng mga inaangkat na gulay.

“May mga pagkakataon po na mayroong gulay ang inyong mga food supplies, kung minsan naman ay wala. Depende po iyan sa availability ng supplies na  dumarating sa lungsod. Kaya po hinihingi naming ang inyong pang unawa,”paliwanag ni Abalos.

Ang karaniwang food pack na ipinamamahagi ng pamahalaang lungsod sa kanilang mga residente ay kinabibillangan ng rocery goods, bigas at tubig, kasama ang kalabasa, sitaw, patatas at iba pang mga gulay.

“Tamang nutrisyon ang hangad ko para sa mamamayan ng Mandaluyong upang mapanatili ang kanilang kalusugan at mapanatili ang malakas na resistensiya na panglaban sa COVID-19,”paliwanag ni Abalos.

Ginawaran ng National Nutrition Honor Award ang lungsod ng Mandaluyong dahil sa consistent nitong pagtanggap ng gawad bilang isa sa pinakamahusay sa implementasyon ng mga programa sa nutrisyon.

Samantala, ang Mandaluyong din ang isa sa unang naghayag ng maagang release ng 13th month ng mga empleyado upang makatulong habang ipinatutupad ang enhanced community quarantine.

Mahigpit din ang pagpapatupad ng curfew sa lungsod mula 8:00 ng hapon hanggang 5:00 ng umaga.

Nagtalaga din ng city government ng pansamantalang matutuluyan  para sa mga health workers at iba pang frontliners na  hindi taga lungsod, gayundin naman ang probisyon ng mga sasakyan ng mga ito papunta at pabalik sa kanilang pinaglilingkurang ospital o health centers.

Sa tala ng Mandaluyong City Health Department noong Marso 20 may mga kumpirmadong positibong kaso ng COVID-19 sa mga sumusunod na barangay: Highway Hills (4); Plainview (1);Daang Bakal (1);Hulo (1);Vergara (1);Wackwack (1); Mauway (1); Addition Hills (1);

Mayroon ding naitalang 32 Persons Under Investigation (PUI) at 349 na Persons Under Monitoring (PUM).

 Ayon sa punong lungsod, patuloy din ang disinfection na ginagawa sa iba’t ibang lugar.

Hinikayat din ni Abalos sa mga mamamayan ng Mandaluyong na magbantay para sa kapwa Mandaleño, sumubaybay sa official websites at social media accounts at iwasang mag-post o share ng fake news
