Abalos bares plans for second term

Mandaluyong Mayor Carmelita “Menchie” Abalos on Saturday said she would focus on education and pending development projects in the city during her second term in office.

“My second term will focus on education and, at the same time, projects that are pending completion,” Abalos said after her oath-taking Saturday morning.

Accompanied by her husband, former mayor Benhur, and other members of her family, Abalos took her oath of office before Supreme Court Associate Justice Jose Reyes.

Abalos said her administration would be founded on the vision of seeing that all children in the city could finish their education.

“That’s what we can consider as the wealth of every family, of our city, if all of our citizens are educated,” she said.

Abalos said she also aimed to finish pending infrastructure projects, including the road along Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital, and the city coliseum, which was set for its groundbreaking next week.

She said three years was too short a time for all the projects she planned for the city.
