Mandaluyong imposes 8pm to 5am curfew
The Mandaluyong City government has placed the entire city under “special concern lockdown” for the purpose of enforcing strict curfew hours starting Aug. 4.
“Sa bisa ng Executive Order No. 24 Series of 2020, lahat ng barangay sa Lungsod ng Mandaluyong ay isinasailalim sa special concern lockdown sa layon na ipatupad ang mahigpit na curfew mula 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. simula Agosto 4, 2020 hanggang Agosto 18, 2020, o maliban kung palawigin pa,” the local government said.
(By virtue of Executive Order No. 24, series of 2020, all barangays in Mandaluyong City are subject to special concern lockdown for the purpose of implementing a strict curfew from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. from August 4, 2020, to August 18, 2020, or unless extended.)
Last July 16, Mayor Carmelita Abalos issued an order that provides the guidelines on the implementation of special concern lockdowns in the city, among them that residents under special concern lockdown must observe strict home quarantine and may not leave their homes except for emergency reasons, to buy essential goods and supplies, and for work.
During the lockdown period, the barangays have to coordinate with the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office for the conduct of disinfection.
The barangays also have to enforce public safety hours from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day, and monitor COVID-19 cases in their area.
The primary responsibility for enforcing the quarantine measures lies with the barangay, while the Mandaluyong City Police, military reservists, and other law enforcers will assist them.
Violators may be charged under Republic Act No. 11332 or the “Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act,” and may also face charges for resistance and disobedience to a person in authority.
President Duterte has placed Metro Manila and its neighboring provinces under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) starting Tuesday (Aug. 4.) until Aug. 18, after medical frontliners appealed for the metropolis to be placed under a stricter quarantine status amid the spike in the number of COVID-19 cases in recent weeks.
With this, the Mandaluyong City government announced that its offices will be on skeleton workforce during the MECQ period.
