Mandaluyong City has unveiled its own digital contact tracing solution to boost its contact tracing efforts and quickly contain the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), according to a report by Manila Bulletin.

MandaTrack, a Quick Response (QR) code-based contact tracing app, will be soon needed upon entry to public offices and commercial establishments in the city.

“Everyone is encouraged to register and download their QR code for our MandaTrack, the official contact tracing app of the city government,” the local government said.

“This is what will everyone use to enter public facilities and private establishments for our COVID-19 contact tracing,” it added.

The city government said residents, visitors, those working in the city, and business establishments within Mandaluyong must register in the contact tracing app through https://mandatrack.appcase.net.

For the registration, individuals must provide their name, address, and contact information.

Businesses, on the other hand, must provide their business account number found in their business permit, a contact person, as well as their contact numbers.

A unique QR code will then be generated after submitting the registration form. Individuals must print or screenshot their QR code.

The local government has vowed that data collected in the contact tracing app will be protected in compliance with the Data Privacy Act of 2012.

“The City Government of Mandaluyong respects your individual privacy and protects any personal information that you share with us,” the city government said in its privacy statement.

“We commit to secure the individual’s right to privacy and ensure the trustworthiness of processing of individual’s personal information,” it added.

In a Facebook post, Councilor Charisse Marie Abalos-Vargas said MandaTrack will be in full implementation in January.

“This will make contact tracing better. And access to establishments easier,” Abalos-Vargas said.

As of December 16, Mandaluyong has a total of 5,725 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Of the number, 97 are active cases, 5,459 recoveries, and 169 deaths.
