The Mandaluyong Sports Development Office has opened registration for the upcoming Mayor Benjamin S. Abalos Chess Tournament 2023, which is set to take place in the coming weeks. The tournament is open to Mandaluyong residents aged 8 to 15 years old, and is aimed at promoting the game of chess as well as encouraging the youth to participate in physical activities.

The registration period will be open until May 5, 2023, with no on-site registration allowed on the day of the tournament. Interested participants are encouraged to register at the Mandaluyong Sports Development Office, located on the second floor of the Executive Blue Building in Mandaluyong City Hall. Registration is available from Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm.

The tournament is set to be a fun and exciting event for young chess enthusiasts, with different age brackets competing against each other for the top prize. It is also a great opportunity for Mandaluyong's youth to showcase their chess skills and sportsmanship.

Mayor Benjamin S. Abalos hopes that this tournament will foster a love for the game of chess among the youth of Mandaluyong, and inspire them to develop their strategic and critical thinking skills. Through the tournament, the city aims to encourage a healthy and active lifestyle among the youth, while promoting camaraderie and fair play.
